Slickline

Slickline Services

Falcon carried out its first slick-line job in QA. Currently, the fleet of slick-line trucks stands at 7 Slickline Units.
Falcon is capable of doing high-risk HPHT jobs, gas wells, sour wells, etc. 15kpsi jobs have been successfully carried out with compliments of the operator.

The slick-line trucks have large powerful cranes to aid in self-sufficiency of jobs. They are fully equipped with a high definition data gathering system. Double drums carry both 0.125 and 0.16-inch standard size slick-line. All instruments are regularly tested, calibrated, and inspected to international standards, then logged for their history.

Operations are carried out from the large supply base in Saih Rawl, close to Qarn Alam. In this 30,000-m2 facility, maintenance, pressure testing facility.
Falcon has a large number of tools for all kinds of services, including memory production logging, data acquisition and fishing.

New Blow Out Preventers (BOP) from Hunting company are used to make sure that well process safety is of the highest standard. This includes a unique triple ram system for high-pressure jobs.

NCP

Non-Corrosive Pumping Services

In 2019, Falcon Well Maintenance started NCP Operation in the highest profile fields of the Sultanate of Oman covering High Pressure and High Temperature deep Gas wells conducting frequent high profile Well Integrity assurance services WIT and SIT and Bull-heading and associated service. These technically challenging wells require the highest profile of equipment specifications and Operators qualification, certifications, and expertise.

The Operation is supported from Saih Rawl’ base of Falcon Well Maintenance with close proximity to the majority of the existing and upcoming Gas Fields in the Sultanate and logistically close to 4 major E&P concessions

The fleet of 5 NCP units is designed with 600 Hp Caterpillar engines, Allison gearbox and SPM 600 series pumps. Those units are also equipped with ergonomically designed air-conditioned operator cabins with best in class acquisition system that can digitally record all the well parameters during the well integrity job to ensure well integrity and data quality.

WHM

Well Head Maintenance

Falcon Well Maintenance started WHM operation in the highest profile fields of the Sultanate of Oman covering High Pressure and High Temperature deep Gas wells conducting frequent high profile, Well Head and Christmas tree maintenance to replace valves and worn spare parts, inject grease and support well integrity measurands. These technically challenging wells require the highest profile of equipment specifications and Operators qualifications, certifications, and expertise.

The fleet of 3 WHM units is designed with Integrated High-Up trucks and include all the fit for purposes of high pressure pumps as well as pumps to control the TRSSV.

FLEX

FLEX (Local Expander)

The latest tool in Falcon’s fleet is a simple but ingenious way to remove sustained casing pressures (SCP). The patented tool is run on e-line and works by making three local dents in the casing, whereby the cement or cap rock is re-engaged and locked up. This technique has been proven in Canada multiple times. The casing is stronger in collapse afterwards while the burst stays the same. This tool can reduce your well integrity in live wells or reduce your abandonment costs by not having to (double) casing mill to re-instate cap rocks necessary for a good well abandonment.

The tool can help with these circumstances:

  • Remove micro annuli in wells to remove sustained annulus pressures

  • Reduce well integrity risks / status in live wells

  • Restore Cap Rock for abandonment instead of milling or cement squeezing

  • Make a basis for cement in an annulus for cement squeeze / circulation if the cement job went wrong due to losses for example

  • Replace the liner hanger or if the liner got stuck, seal the pipe to act as a liner hanger.

Advantages over other annular repair methods:

  • E-line deployable, i.e. low cost

  • No energetics/ explosives needed

  • No ID reduction after repair

  • Re-usable, no sacrificial parts

  • Multiple sets of dents can be set per run

  • Fully controlled slow expansion process with surface readout for monitoring and decision making

  • Low risk of stuck or lost tools, fishable

MPLT

Memory Production Logging

Applications

  • Monitor well efficiency

  • Production Diagnostics

  • Analyze injection or production profile by zone

  • Monitor well stimulations

  • Well mechanical integrity analysis

  • Time lapse logging

  • Well treatment verification

ScanWell

ScanWell

Falcon has teamed up with Norwegian high-tech company Scan well to deliver first class, non-intrusive annulus investigation services. Using patented algorithms that make use of pressure, temperature and sonic data, a more accurate, quicker, and decisive leak investigation can be carried out. Only one connection is made to a side outlet valve on the wellhead. A computerized system blows off a puff of gas through a gas chromatograph and together with the highly accurate gauges it is able to detect:

  • Leak rate

  • Depth of leak

  • Composition of gas/fluids from the leak

  • Composition and gradient of annulus fluids

Since there are no tools to be run into the well, this service is done from the back of a truck within half a day shift. A detailed report will clarify for anyone what to expect in the well and even predicts what can happen in the future to the well, even suggest remedial work to contain the problem.

ReeledESP

Reeled ESP

Falcon Reeled ESP is a fast, rig-less system, replacing a rig running jointed steel pipe and a separate cable for the electrical submersible pump (ESP) at the same time.
The unique umbilical is perfectly round and has the power cable for the ESP embedded in the wall, avoiding the complications of running separate pipe and cable while reducing the need of cable protection.
Since it is made of re-enforced plastic, it is light, does not corrode and can be snubbed on (run into a well without the need to kill the well first).
It has been proven to be re-usable, meaning that if the pump fails, a work-over can be done quickly, without the need to replace the umbilical..

FalconReeledESP2.jpg

Advantages:

  • Highly reduced spending on opex in fields where ESP are the main lifting mechanism

  • Reduced installation time (typically 12 hrs. vs. 3-7 days on jointed pipe)

  • Reduced ESP refurbishment time (pull and replace within one day)
    No rig / hoist overhead

  • Less corrosion problems, no steel contact with fluids

  • Re-runnable many times, up to 100 cycles in test conditions vs.
approximate 50% rejection rate with jointed pipe

  • Snubbing makes the need to kill the well or close in water injectors
unnecessary, reducing deferment and reservoir impairment

  • No need for expensive packers (compared with competitor annulus production systems)

  • No potential gas locking of ESP associated with annulus production systems (in packer-less wells)
Reduced problems with ESP startup cycle

  • Decrease in asphaltene depositions

  • Possibility to include fiber optics, capillary tubes or gauge cables (any signal cables for telemetry)

  • Reduced overall running size, enabling slimming of the well design and associated cost reduction

  • Less dogleg severity (DLS) sensitive as not bending ESP as much as jointed pipe

  • Smoother inside wall than steel resulting in lower pump pressure loss

  • Thanks to polymer materials used in the umbilical, thermal-insulated pipelines and polymer armored pipes have low heat transfer ratio 0,33W/(m*K) comparing to metal pipes – 3,5W/(m*К) resulting in slightly higher production temperatures and easier transportation / lower power consumption – theoretically (to be investigated in trials)
